My plan to end religious terror and violence and achieve lasting peace by L.L.

While religion and violence-within-religion is not something new it is a situation that will forever exists unless a solution to the problem is reached.  The world as we know has changed dramatically within the last couple of decades. In particular for those living in the US, specifically in the areas where 9-11 occurred; in that we are now more aware as a people of the power of religions terrorism or terrorism itself. It has also changed for many other parts of the world and we are now in tune to the power terrorism has on our way of life.

It is however imperative to understand that not everyone can see the situation for what it is.  My personal view of terrorism has been forever changed as of the minute I opened TMG and started reading.  I do not agree with many if not all of the solutions in this book, but I do see possibilities within the suggestions on how we can end this cycle of violence.

When speaking of terror we are fist greeted with a full explanation of the word terrorism.  I understand it as a basic way of causing terror throughout a specific group of peoples or the world as a whole.   To effectively think of a solution one must first analyze the reasoning behind the need for terrorism. Throughout the book we read scenarios that explain to us why specific groups choose to become terrorists.  By understanding this it is than possible to think of a positive and effective solution to the problem.

My plan to end religious terror and violence as well as achieving lasting peace is to advocate for the “Separation of Religion from Politics”.

Separation of Religion from politics is a solution promoting peace “in which the absolutism of the struggle is defused, and the religious aspects are taken out of politics and retired to the moral and metaphysical planes.”  I plan to incorporate a system of education in which religion and politics are never intertwined.  I will make it a law to keep an inkling of religious opinion strictly out of our political decisions.  Although I believe personal moral arises from religious believes I do not think it arises entirely from ones religious beliefs. There are those of us who are not affiliated with religion in any specific way, but naturally see the morality of the decisions we make on a daily basis, specifically when it comes to decisions that would affect others.

Understanding that this separation does not mean greed, money, and the politics that dictated the decisions governments make will be abolished entirely; it will however be possible through time to educate those that will ultimately be in politically powerful position to act according to the needs of the human race in the most practical way possible.  I will be a joint effort on the part of all governments in the world.  Practicality I believe is the key to the separation of religion and politics.  It is necessary to remove the prejudice from our decision making in order to truly act like business is business and nothing more.

Most religious groups want to be recognized and treated fairly.  I plan to make sure all religious groups are recognized yet do not play a part in why the governments make decisions.  Whether or not this means the decisions made would positively affect any religious group does not play a part in my plans for peace.  On the contrary it is a plan to advocate for an overall understanding that the decisions made to better our world and economy are not based on what any religious groups believe. Instead they are based on what the human race as a whole needs in order to live the best and most peaceful way of life possible.

I do not believe that making laws that dictate one religious group can not harm another is intertwining religion with politics.  Rather it is the best way to keep the peace.  In order to govern a world full of different people with different believes it is necessary for laws to be placed allowing for a uniform way of dealing with violence.  It would not benefit my plans for peace to say each religious group is recognized and now go and do as they please or as their religion dictates.  Unfortunately if a religious group claims killing others is part of their beliefs, this becomes something that does not affect the human race in a positive way and therefore can not be allowed.

Most if not all religious groups want peace and understand that not everyone will join in their religious beliefs.  It is on account of this that everyone must adjust their understanding of living with others that will ultimately win the fight against violence. Respect for others not only as to their religious beliefs but when it comes to their basic human needs as well is what will prevail.  I everyone is living the best life possible and there are no particular government oppressing them as a people than peace can be achieved.

No one government will have the power to destroy another’s economy or way of life at will.  My plans are to build a world consciousness and awareness of what it means to be human.
